“TRI HITA KARANA AWARDS 2014” HONORED “MELAPA MELAPI AWARDS” IN A BALINESE FOOD FESTIVAL

Denpasar, Bali. 27 November 2014 - Tri Hita Karana (THK) Awards initiative has been conducted by Tri Hita Karana Foundation since year 2000 and endorsed by the Provincial Government of Bali. The THK Awards has also been recognized by UNWTO since year 2004 as a laudable initiative which is aimed at promoting and developing sustainable tourism in an economically viable, environmentally friendly, socially responsible and culturally acceptable manner.

On the 29th of November 2014 evening takes place at the Bali Art Centre’s Ksirarnawa, the annual Tri Hita Karana Awards will honor the Bali’s environmentally best practice institutions, earning their distinction in their field of specialist – hotels, tourist destinations, government offices, schools and universities. Unlike any other environmental honors, Tri Hita Karana (THK) Awards winners are based on self-assessment of the nominees in implementing the sustainability of the three main sources of harmony relations that are related one to each other in achieving the happiness, wealthiness and peacefulness, which are parhyangan (harmony relations of human being in sustaining the culture and spiritual practice), pawongan (harmony relations in caring to others), palemahan (harmony relations in preserving and conserving the environment. Following the Assessment Check-list completed by each nominee, the team of Tri Hita Karana Awards & Accreditation conducted a physical check to the field if their self-assessments have met the criteria set by the THK Awards & Accreditation team. The THK Awards & Accreditation team consists of bona fide and competence members who have extensive expertise in their field and profession. The final meeting for the Awards winners will be made by the Awards & Accreditation team to determine which institutions are entitled to the Awards.

“With the help of bona fide and competence Awards & Accreditation Team and the members of Paguyuban THK around Bali, Yayasan Tri Hita Karana is thrilled to recognize the Bali’s most outstanding institutions for the 15th year of the THK Awards,” said Gusti Ngurah Wisnu Wardana, chairman of Yayasan Tri Hita Karana. “There are three different award categories: bronze, silver, and gold. The three times gold achievers will be awarded emerald award, and three times emerald achievers are eligible to platinum award. This year THK Awards also honored Melapa Melapi Awards for the Winners of a Balinese Food Festival which was conducted in cooperation with Indonesian Chef Association, led by Komang Adi Arsana. For the Balinese Food Festival each participant to serve 4 courses – appetizer, soup, main course and dessert, based on the set criteria. The judge mark points included but not limited to the taste and texture, from preparation to presentation, service, welcome drink. During the THK Awards there were also awards for THK Public Relations of the Year”, concluded by Mr Wardana.
