THK - CSR Awards for Companies Holding Corporate Social Responsibility

GOVERNOR of Bali in a written speech read by the Regional Secretary of Bali Province, Cokorda Ngurah Pemayun, appreciated to the Tri Hita Karana Tourism Awards and Accreditation 2017 held at Denpasar Art Center on Saturday (Nov. 25) which is an inseparable part of sustainable development program.

“I welcome and give an appreciation to the implementation of this activity. This is an integral part of sustainable development program,” he said.

He added that Tri Hita Karana is a spirit of sustainable development supported by harmony between human and God, human and fellow humans as well as human and nature. The values of this local wisdom must be conti n uously disseminated both th r ough the tourism sector and e d ucational institutions, including the activity like the Tri Hita Karana Tourism Awards.

Chairman of THK Awards Committee, I Gusti Ngurah Wisnu Wardana, said the awarding of the Tri Hita Karana Tourism Awards is a high appreciation for those that have implemented the concept of Tri Hita Karana in their management, both hotels and other institutions.

This award has been taking place for 17 years continuously. Currently it is followed by 150 participants where 116 of them are hotels that have applied the concept of Tri Hita Karana.

There is an interesting award at this time namely the award given to companies that have done their corporate social responsibility in the form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards. CSR is the company’s obligation under the law and contains sanctions therein. The company has various forms of responsibility to all its stakeholders. On that account, CSR is closely linked to sustainable development.

When running their business, the companies are not solely based on the economic aspect, but must also consider the social and environmental impacts arising from the activities they undertake.

“With this award, they are expected to further enhance the cultural tourism management capability in facing global challenges, so that their existence and identity will be seen in the life of society, nation and the state,” he asserted. v BTNewspaper/e/prm
